Great Ashby Community Group Meeting next Thursday
The next Great Ashby Community Group meeting is to be held on October 8th at 8 October 2009 in the small hall at the Community Centre.
Please contact Evelyn Goldwater if you would like to raise a topic at the meeting.
Sorry, can’t make the meeting, but stumbled on this info if anyone would like to think about it:
Google earth picture in panoramio: Photo of bluebell woods: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/5947362
Wikipedia notes on bluebells: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Bluebell says:
Quote “In the United Kingdom the common bluebell is a protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Landowners are prohibited from removing common bluebells on their land for sale and it is a criminal offence to remove the bulbs of wild common bluebells. This legislation was strengthened in 1998 under Schedule 8 of the Act making any trade in wild common bluebell bulbs or seeds an offence.”
Maybe worth checking out as I believe these blubells are in the woods they want to grub up for this school building.
Cheers
