Who we are

The site is maintained and run by Andrew and Lindsey Brockhurst. There are other contributors but the domains are owned and managed by Andrew through his Hosting company B3CFT (don't ask about the name, it's not worth it.)

Why do you bother?

The domains were register to stop campers, and then Lindsey got herself elected onto the committee of the Newsletter Group, and Andrew got himself elected onto the Committee of Community Group.

Who can have a page?

Any club or society operating in Great Ashby or the Community Centre.

Where do those images at the top of the page come from?

Those images are randomly picked from a Flickr Great Ashby group pool that has been created. The photos show are rotated on a 5 minute cycle.

If you have some photos of Great Ashby and would like them to feature, create yourself a free Flickr account, upload your photos and request to join the Great Ashby group.

Once you have joined and added your photos to the group, they are available to be randomly picked and displayed.

Hidden Email addresses

If you have seen a page which has hidden email address and you have been directed here, that is because you have JavaScript disabled on your browser.

To prevent SPAM profilerating and to protect peoples email accounts from SPAM attacks we encode the email addresses using a modified version of the mailto.php script

Site Design and Construction

This site has been designed and built by Andrew Brockhurst.

Andrew's day job is a web developer (not a designer!) and is delivered via a Content Management System (CMS) that he has been building since January 2005, and new features are added almost daily.

The site is delivered as (X)HTML Transitional and uses CSS2 for layout and styling.
All pages (should) validate by the W3C HTML validator, and has been designed to meet W3C accessibility guidelines as laid out by the WAI.

Pages on this site will not pass the W3C MarkUp Validator because they declare an XML Namespace. The W3C validator uses a document’s DTD to validate against. However, DTDs are not aware of namespaces. They look only at the QName. Thus namespaces have no effect with respect to DTD-based validation.

Although they may fail the W3C validator, these pages are still valid (X)HTML.
